Benromach Organic Approved for the US

PRESS RELEASE - July 2, 2007

Gordon & MacPhail, proprietors of Benromach distillery have launched, Benromach Organic Speyside Single Malt Scotch Whisky.  Hand made by just two men at Speyside’s smallest working distillery, Benromach Organic is the first bottled Single Malt Whisky released to be fully certified by the Soil Association of the U.K. The product has also been approved for sale in U.S.A.

The whole process – raw ingredients, distillation, maturation and bottling – is certified organic to the rigorous standards set by the Soil Association.

Using pure spring water from the nearby Romach Hills and the finest Scottish organic barley and organic yeast, Benromach Organic is made by experienced distillers, personally ensuring only the highest quality spirit is filled into hand selected virgin American oak casks.

The virgin American oak casks are made from natural wild growing forest. Only when the spirit has matured to the highest quality standard is it bottled as Benromach Organic Speyside Single Malt Scotch Whisky.

Benromach Organic is bottled non chill filtered, at natural colour and at 43% ABV. Golden brown in colour, Benromach Organic is a fresh vibrant whisky with a strong oak influence.  The nose reveals sweet, charred oak aromas with fresh fruit notes (bananas and pineapples).  An earthy, toasted aroma also present.  The palate exposes sweet, vanilla and toffee flavours.  Hints of green apples and orange peel with a rich resinous note.

Commenting on the new release, Ian Urquhart, managing director at Gordon & MacPhail says, “Benromach Organic is an innovative and interesting product created to our meticulously high standards.  It is aimed at the consumer with an enquiring mind, seeking to explore a challenging and truly unique product.  The use of organic ingredients and the virgin American oak casks in maturation has added a unique robustness and depth which complements the traditional Benromach spirit.”

Benromach Organic is presented in bespoke 75cl bottle and striking black tin, which contrasts in colour to the other expressions in the range to help reinforce the uniqueness of the product.  For details of availability please contact Matt Chivian at Classic Wine Imports, Norwood, MA 02062 (MChivian@classicwineimports.com)

We are proud that Benromach Organic now joins the other expressions in the Benromach range available in U.S.A.

Comments

It was going to be a matter of time before we saw organic whisky. I imagine it will cost very dear when it arrives in the US.
