The 2008 Malt Whisky Yearbook is nigh

Ingvar Ronde (Editor of the Malt Whisky Yearbook) tells me that he is in the midst of finalizing the 2008 edition - and soon it will be off to the printer.

Who knows, maybe I'll get a stack to sell again this year. Pre-order interest anyone?

Here's what to expect in this year's edition

Mwyb2008Some of the world’s most distinguished whisky writers also join us
this year:

David Stirk tells us about a Scotch producer sailing under French banner, when he depicts the fascinating story of Chivas Brothers.

It has been a bumper year for Scotch whisky, but will it last? Ian Buxton looks at the historical precedents for Scotch Whisky´s “Golden Age”.

Are they scientists or artists or a bit of both? Gavin D Smith has met with the Master Blenders.

How should whisky face competition from other drinks? Dominic Roskrow suggests the way to go.

Some say the independent bottlers are a dying breed! Charles MacLean has met with the indies to talk about the future.

Are the producers tampering with the true character of whisky or just fine tuning the product? Ian Wisniewski explains the process of colouring, chill filtration and cask strength bottling.

You will also find an exclusive interview with one of the most powerful men in the world of malt whiskies, Nick Morgan from Diageo.

The unique, detailed and much appreciated 164-page section on malt whisky distilleries is thoroughly revised and up-dated and with most of the pictures new since the last edition. Look especially at the chapter on “Distilleries around the globe” which has doubled in size compared to previous editions with many new, exciting producers and “Single Malts of Japan” which has expanded adding another three distilleries.

In Malt Whisky Yearbook 2008 you will also find a list of 120 of the best whisky shops in Europe with full details and a comprehensive list of more than 475 new bottlings during the year.

The summary The Whisky Year That Was is awarded twice as many pages as last year, warranted by an exciting and eventful year. We also present the best whisky web sites, books and magazines and, of course, include the latest available statistics for those of
you who cannot live without tables and graphs.
