Now THIS is fun.

I took Canadian Club to task for the "Your Dad Drank It" ads as being stupid and misogynistic.

I recently came across this commercial (Australian?) for Jim Beam Bourbon.

How'd I miss this the first go around?

From the same parent company. This one is, by comparison, fun.

Update: Another one in the series...(Thanks Michael)

They also did this one:

It's hard to know what to say about this.

Actually, it might be best just to ignore them because this seems to belong to that school of advertising that says "we'll deliberately offend people and flout the spirit of the regulations in order to create a controversy and then people will notice us".
So, like a toddler having a tantrum we might do better to walk away and wait until they grow up.

It is particularly crass and stupid though, isn't it? In fact, are you completely sure it's not a very well made spoof?

OK, I know where to buy Jim Beam. But where do you get a girlfriend like that?

But I have to agree with Ian.
Plus it's always suspicious when the advertising is not all about the product it's supposed to sell. It always gives me the feeling that there's something really wrong with the product and that the advertisers are desperate to focus on something else than the product's qualities.

What's wrong with an Aussie campaign just saying "Jim Beam.. bloody great Scotch, kicks ya right in the balls, mate !"

The FIRST thing that would be wrong with a commercial like that is that Jim Beam is Bourbon ;)

I was so convinced this had to be a spoof that I contacted someone senior in Beam in the USA - and, yes, they confirmed that these commercials really are running in Australia.

Wonder when they'll air in a country which has moved into the 21st Century?

Am I the only one who thinks these are funny? Even my feminist wife laughed. It's not serious. It's a joke! Offensive? Lighten up you guys!

I hope I didn't come across as negative. I thought there were (per the headline) Fun.

Not the most original, but definitely not Kilts & Castles.

Well, of course it's funny - but it's also crass and infantile and they can do much better.

If you want to see how to do kilts in an advert check out the Lawsons ads I just posted on thewhiskychannel.com

Now they are funny and stylish AND they feature kilts.

"Infantile & Crass"
Can't argue with that.
Will head over to check out the Lawson Ads...
A friend in Spain sent me one with a Scottish Football Team - all in Kilts "Intimidating" the opposing team.
Like that one....

What exactly "pained" your friend? Was it the rain in Spain, which falls mainly on the plain - or some kind of whisky related condition?
An inability, perhaps, to distinguish football from rugby?
