Clarifying
Let's be clear.
Despite the fact that I am not a fan of the term "blended malt"... It does not mean that I prefer or support "vatted malt" or "malt whisky".

Why not name the whisky after the number of malts in it? i.e
Single Malt - Product of 1 distillery
Double Malt - Product of 2 distilleries
Triple Malt - Product of 3 distilleries
octi-malt - product of 8 distilleries
Deci-malt - Product of 10 distilleries
centi-malt - Product of 100 distilleries
I think this would work within the existing structure. It is no less confusing that terms like "double malt" or "double wood."

What happens when there are 27 malts in it though? :) Might get a bit complicated...?

The industry should stop thinking it's 'blended' OR it's 'vatted'.
If every one agrees that the object is to reduce confusion, then that's a better place to start than 'my term is better than yours' - because vatted & blended are less than clear.
I only say stick with vatted until a better term can be implemented.
Remember, As verbal as I have been in this debate, I have zero skin in this game.

How about simply "multi-malt?"
